YOGA FOR LOWER BACK

It is E S S E N T I A L to our health and wellbeing to have a flexible and mobile spine! (i'm sure you already know that.. but how many of you actually act upon it?)

So if you're spending most of your day sat at a desk, lying in bed (don't we all wish haha) looking down at your phone etc this is for you!

SO WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO HAVE A FLEXIBLE SPINE?

The spine is an amazing and complex structure that not only regulates movement but also houses the central nervous system. However, most of us don't think about spine TLC until something actually hurts.

Flexibility is more than just touching your toes, it means that your joints have a greater range of motion. So when you exercise, lift heavy objects or just go for a casual stroll, you're less likely to strain or injure your spine.

Flexibility also promotes symmetry and balance within the body. In turn, this harmony reduces muscular tension as well as emotional stress. Therefore, a flexible spine will help you feel happier, healthier, and stronger.

SO, how can you achieve a flexible spine!?

Yoga: While different poses target different areas of the body, yoga lengthens and strengthens the body, thus increasing your range of motion.

Stretching: Likewise, doing simple stretches like lower-back twists and pelvic tilts everyday reinforces your core muscles and improves your posture. Then, in time, you’ll reap the benefits of a flexible spine.

Exercise: There are also a variety of sports and other exercises that promote flexibility. For example, our health clinic recommends taking a dance course or Pilates class.
